Mount Sela in Madinah attracts visitors throughout year

MADINAH: Mount Sela, a distinctive historical site in Madinah, is attracting visitors throughout the year.

The Madinah region boasts many historical sites linked to the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) life.

Mount Sela, located 500 metres northwest of the Prophet’s Mosque, is one of the prominent historical and religious landmarks in the region.

Researcher and historian Dr. Fouad Al-Moghamesi said Mount Sela witnessed pivotal historical events, such as the Battle of the Trench, in which the Prophet Muhammad made the headquarters of the Muslim leadership at the foot of the mountain. The companions of the Prophet were stationed at various locations of the mountain.

Mount Sela is part of the borders of the central region of Madinah, nowadays called the District of the Seven Mosques.
