OIC condemns Israeli occupation assault on worshippers at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa

JERUSALEM: Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) today condemned Israeli occupation assault on Palestinian worshippers at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

OIC decried in a press statement the occupation restrictions on worshippers’ access to the mosque compound as the occupation forces prevented thousands from the West Bank from entering occupied Jerusalem to attend Friday prayers at the holy site.

It also decried the occupation forces’ assault on worshippers at the holy site after the occupation forces attacked hundreds of worshippers at the holy site following the dawn prayer, launching tear gas canisters and arresting at least five.

It slammed such restrictions and assault as a flagrant violation of international laws and norms and called upon the international community to oblige Israel, the occupying power, to halt all recurrent violations of the freedom of worship and desecration of the holy sites while stressing the need to preserve the longstanding historical and legal status at the mosque.

It reiterated call for the need to implement the United Nations resolutions on the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to all parts of the blockaded Gaza Strip.
