SEWA Moves Forward with Natural Gas Delivery Expansion in Sharjah’s Central Region

SHARJAH: The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) is progressing with the third and fourth phases of its natural gas delivery project aimed at enhancing energy provisions in the Central Region of the Emirate. This initiative comes after successfully completing the first two phases, which improved natural gas access in Al Bataeh City and the Al Burair area. According to Emirates News Agency, Engineer Ibrahim Al Balgouni, Director of the Natural Gas Department at SEWA, stated that the project aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The project aims to ensure that natural gas is available throughout the Emirate. The ongoing phases involve a 50-kilometre extension of the gas network, representing an investment totaling AED15 million. The first two phases of the project have already brought significant benefits. The initial phase in Al Bataeh City now serves around 1,200 citizens, and the subsequent phase cove red the Al Burair area. Both phases have been completed successfully. The focus has now shifted to the third phase of the project, which extends towards Al Dhaid, specifically targeting the Jabal Omar neighbourhood. This phase includes a 13-kilometre transmission line that will also cater to the Tal Al Zafaran neighbourhood, along with Al Hosn 1 and Al Hosn 2 areas. Completion of this phase is expected within the next two months. The fourth and final phase of the project will see the establishment of a natural gas pumping station in Al Dhaid, at an additional cost of AED5 million. This phase aims to facilitate natural gas access to all homes in the area, thereby completing the network's expansion in the Central Region.
