JABALIA: A recent Israeli airstrike on a United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) school in Jabalia, Gaza, resulted in the deaths of numerous Palestinians, many of whom were children, and left others injured. This incident marks the third attack on UNRWA facilities within just one week. According to Emirates News Agency, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini expressed profound outrage and sorrow over the attack in a statement released on his X (formerly Twitter) account. Lazzarini detailed the dire circumstances faced by civilians in Gaza, describing them as "trapped, hungry, and sick," often amidst intense bombardment. He emphasized that the targeted school had been sheltering many children at the time of the attack. The statement further revealed that additional members of the UNRWA team were among those killed in the recent spate of violence, bringing the total number of agency personnel lost since the conflict's onset over a year ago to 231. Lazzarini concluded his remarks with a powerful call to action, urging the international community to demonstrate "political will and courage to end this brutal war."
