PARIS: Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Ayman Safadi met with his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot in Paris to address escalating tensions in the Middle East and to prepare for the International Conference in Support of Lebanon's People and Sovereignty. The conference, organized by France, aims to mobilize international support for Lebanon amidst ongoing regional conflicts. According to Jordan News Agency, the ministers discussed efforts to halt the dangerous escalation in the region, advocating for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in both Gaza and Lebanon. They also addressed the need to end Israel's actions against Palestinians in Gaza. The meeting emphasized the importance of the upcoming International Conference in Support of Lebanon, initiated by French President Emmanuel Macron, as a platform to garner international backing for a ceasefire and to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1707. The conference's agenda includes intensifying humanitarian aid efforts for over 1.2 million Lebanese displaced by Israeli actions. Safadi highlighted the urgent need for international action to halt the aggression on Gaza, citing severe humanitarian impacts and accusing Israel of war crimes, including ethnic cleansing. He appreciated France's role in these efforts, particularly its decision to halt arms exports to Israel and its firm stance in calling for a ceasefire. The discussions between Safadi and Barrot also focused on enhancing cooperation to deliver aid to Gaza and exploring ways to strengthen the longstanding ties between Jordan and France. The ministers reviewed a range of regional and international issues, underscoring the collaborative efforts in addressing the ongoing crises.
