UAQ Launches Community Initiative for Ecotrail Construction in Mangrove Reserve

UMM AL QUWAIN: A new community initiative has been launched in Umm Al Quwain to support the construction of an ecotrail within the Mangrove Reserve. Developed by the Department of Tourism and Archaeology in collaboration with Emirates Nature-WWF, the initiative underscores the importance of community involvement and social responsibility in the conservation of natural resources. According to Emirates News Agency, the initiative, announced in conjunction with World Tourism Day last month, seeks to engage local communities by encouraging participation in the creation and maintenance of the ecotrail. Mohammed Essa AlKashf, a member of the Federal National Council, joined a group of volunteers to assist in preparing the trail and organizing the surrounding area. Their efforts aim to provide a unique experience for visitors and highlight the critical nature of environmental conservation. The event also featured an educational workshop designed to raise awareness about the vital role individuals play in protectin g natural habitats. This initiative supports the broader environmental goals outlined in the Umm Al Quwain Sustainable Blue Economy Strategy 2031, which seeks to deliver social and economic benefits to both present and future generations.
