Paris: The UAE National Guard has officially joined the International Association of Gendarmeries and Police Forces with Military Status (FIEP) during a summit hosted by the French Republic. The event, which took place from 20th to 23rd October 2025, was attended by French Minister of Interior Laurent Nu±ez and representatives from 22 countries.
According to Emirates News Agency, the United Arab Emirates was represented by a delegation led by the Commander of the National Guard, Major General Saleh Mohammed bin Megren Al Ameri. In his address, Al Ameri highlighted the critical role of the National Guard in ensuring national security. He also reiterated the directives from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to strengthen international cooperation, underscoring the dual security and humanitarian roles played by the National Guard.
The National Guard’s involvement in humanitarian efforts was also highlighted, particularly its significant contribution to Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, which provided aid to the Gaza Strip. The UAE’s efforts accounted for 45% of the total international aid as part of this operation.
The accession of the UAE National Guard to FIEP was warmly welcomed by all member states, signifying an enhanced presence of the UAE in international security and military cooperation. Major General Al Ameri stated that this development would aid in addressing cross-border challenges such as terrorism, organized crime, and illegal immigration, thereby promoting regional and global security and stability.
