Domestically, the nation has achieved substantial progress in sustainable development. Initiatives such as a marine exploration voyage to survey seabed geology and a geospatial data platform for agriculture and water resources have cemented the UAE's leadership in environmental sustainability. In 2025, Sharjah's Environment and Protected Areas Authority announced the inclusion of the Khor Kalba Mangrove Centre in the Wetlands Link International network, reflecting the UAE's commitment to wetland conservation. Additionally, t he Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative's 'Al Miyah Challenge' aims to accelerate innovative water solutions, starting with agriculture. Environmental initiatives also include the Abu Dhabi Coral Garden project, the largest of its kind in the Middle East, enhancing marine biodiversity. Sharjah launched its first solar power plant, SANA, capable of producing 60 megawatts of energy. Furthermore, Abu Dhabi has increased its nature reserves to cover 20% of its total area.
