Dubai: MedLab Training Institute, a UAE-based medical education provider, has unveiled its latest surgical training facility at Dubai Science Park, an initiative aimed at enhancing the practical skills of healthcare professionals in the Middle East. This new hub is part of the region's foremost science-focused ecosystem under TECOM Group PJSC.
According to Emirates News Agency, the launch comes in response to the escalating demand for hands-on clinical training as healthcare professionals across the region strive to refine their procedural skills and integrate advanced surgical techniques into their practice. The institute is set to accommodate 1,000 to 1,500 healthcare professionals annually, including consultants, specialists, and those in the early stages of their careers.
The training programmes at MedLab will be delivered by a mix of international faculty, regional experts, and industry partners, offering participants the opportunity to experience a variety of surgical methods and techniques. The faculty typically comprises consultant-level surgeons and specialists with significant clinical and academic backgrounds, many of whom are associated with top teaching hospitals and universities in Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Senior Vice President of Dubai Science Park, part of TECOM Group, highlighted the importance of the facility, stating that MedLab's establishment reinforces the UAE's healthcare and life sciences ecosystem by attracting specialized training capabilities. The facility is seen as a direct contributor to improving clinical skills and enhancing patient care outcomes across the region.
The new facility is equipped with cadaveric training laboratories, advanced audiovisual systems for live demonstrations and recordings, and dedicated teaching spaces that foster immersive, experiential learning. Cadaveric training is a crucial component, allowing clinicians to practice on real human anatomy, which enhances surgical precision and confidence.
MedLab's programmes offer certified training aligned with relevant regulatory and accreditation standards, typically running over one to three days with intensive hands-on sessions. The centre supports various surgical disciplines, including orthopaedics, sports surgery, maxillofacial, and reconstructive procedures.
Dr. Bilal El-Yafawi, Chief Executive Officer of MedLab Training Institute, emphasized the institute's mission to advance surgical training through practical, experience-based education. He noted that the new facility is designed to deliver structured, hands-on programmes that facilitate the ongoing development of healthcare professionals in the region.
