UAE Cabinet Approves Framework for Agentic AI Project Implementation

Abu dhabi: The UAE Cabinet, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has approved a comprehensive framework outlining the roles and responsibilities of federal ministries and entities in the implementation of the Agentic AI Project. This decision marks a significant step forward in the UAE's national transformation strategy to integrate artificial intelligence across 50% of government services and operations.

According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum emphasized the importance of this initiative during a Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan. He highlighted the launch of the largest government training program in the UAE's history, aimed at equipping 80,000 employees with skills in Agentic AI tools and technologies. The program will target personnel from various government levels, including ministers, senior executives, and new joiners.

The Cabinet also approved the first package of AI-powered government services, designed to serve citizens, residents, businesses, and investors. Additionally, a National Policy for Advancing Digital Healthcare Services and Artificial Intelligence in the Health Sector was established, focusing on developing a national AI-driven medical system and building an advanced digital health infrastructure.

The approved framework mandates the formation of work teams within each ministry and federal entity, tasked with implementing the Agentic AI operating system. These teams will work towards transforming at least 50% of federal services and operations and will be responsible for setting targets and establishing indicators to evaluate the transformation process.

The UAE Cabinet's decisions also included the approval of a Federal Government Employees' Skills and Capabilities Development Programme, developed in partnership with national universities and global tech companies. This initiative aims to train federal employees across five occupational categories and will feature a dedicated digital platform for continuous capability-building.

In addition to AI initiatives, the Cabinet addressed other sectors, such as digital healthcare, by approving a comprehensive framework to enhance the national health system with AI applications. A Federal Law will be drafted to regulate AI use in the health sector, focusing on data governance, safety standards, and patient rights.

The Cabinet also reconstituted the UAE Council for Digital Wellbeing and reviewed various strategic programs, such as the Industrial Technology Transformation Programme and the National Electric Vehicles Policy for 2025. These efforts aim to enhance the UAE's industrial competitiveness and advance its clean energy initiatives.

Finally, the Cabinet approved the negotiation and signing of 15 international agreements and Memoranda of Understanding, covering a range of areas from trade and investment to academic cooperation. It also endorsed the hosting of several international conferences in the UAE, reflecting the country's active engagement in global affairs.
