Palau: The US announced over $150 million in support for Pacific Islands.

According to Emirates News Agency, at the Pacific Islands Forum Partners Dialogue in Palau, Deputy Secretary Christopher Landau revealed the US's commitment of over $150 million to support the Pacific Islands. This initiative was communicated directly to regional partners, with Landau engaging with Pacific Islands leaders and ministers to emphasize the strength and longevity of US partnerships in the area. The announcement included new US-funded projects and investments designed to promote economic prosperity and security for both Americans and Pacific Islanders.

The Department of State, collaborating with Congress, plans to allocate $60 million to assist Pacific Islands countries in tackling the ongoing global energy crisis. This includes efforts to expand fuel storage capacity and enhance grid stability.

Moreover, with funding from the US Department of State, the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) is set to bolster fuel supply reliability and energy security in the region. This will be achieved through a feasibility study aimed at upgrading Tonga's port facilities, fuel storage capacity, pipeline infrastructure, and market-oriented regulatory practices.
