Abdullah bin Zayed Advocates for Multilateral Cooperation at BRICS+ Summit in Kazan

Kazan: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the BRICS+ Summit in Kazan, Russia, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in addressing global challenges. The summit, part of the BRICS Summit, ran from October 22 to October 24, 2024, and was inaugurated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, with participation from leaders and representatives of 38 countries. According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Abdullah conveyed greetings from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and expressed gratitude to President Putin and the BRICS Russian Chairmanship for hosting the summit. He highlighted the role of BRICS as a platform for fostering international cooperation beyond economic ties, underscoring the UAE's commitment to international partnerships founded on shared interests and mutual respect. Sheikh Abdullah asserted the necessity of collective action to tackle global challenges such as economic shifts, climate c hange, energy sector issues, and conflicts. He reiterated the UAE's call for an immediate end to fighting in Gaza, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and a political process based on a two-state solution. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of supporting international efforts to de-escalate tensions in Lebanon and condemning violations of international law. The summit's discussions focused on enhancing cooperation with the "Friends of BRICS" in fields like trade, investment, energy transition, sustainability, and security. Sheikh Abdullah advocated for expanding cooperation, developing innovative economic strategies, and the necessity of multilateralism for stability and growth. He affirmed the UAE's readiness to promote multilateral cooperation and recognized the role of emerging countries in shaping the global economy. Sheikh Abdullah concluded by expressing hope for strengthened cooperation among BRICS countries and thanked President Putin and the Russian Federation for their hospitality.
