Transport Minister, Egyptian counterpart discuss cooperation

Cairo: Minister of Transport Wissam Tahtamouni met on Wednesday with her Egyptian counterpart, Lieutenant General Kamel al-Wazir and discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation in land, maritime, and rail transportation fields.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the preparatory committee meetings of the Jordanian-Egyptian Higher Committee, which kick off on Thursday in Cairo.

Tahtamouni lauded the deep-rooted Jordanian-Egyptian ties and joint cooperation in various economic fields, especially transportation in its various sectors, noting the importance of holding such periodic joint meetings to enhance cooperation in transportation and other economic sectors for the benefit of the two countries.

For his part, the Egyptian minister praised the regularity of holding joint technical committees in land and maritime transportation, stressing their role in strengthening the bonds of economic cooperation between Jordan and Egypt.

Prime Minister Bishr Khasawneh, who arrived in Cairo on Wednesday, is heading
the Jordanian delegation participating in the meetings of the 32nd session of the Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.

The delegation includes ministers of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Ibrahim Jazi, Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh, Tourism and Antiquities Makram Qaisi, Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmad Hanandeh, Industry, Trade and Supply Yousef Shamali, Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, Transport Wissam Tahtamouni, and Government Communication Muhannad Mubaideen.

ASE ranks 1st in Arab region in achieving dividend yield in 2023

Amman: Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) ranked first in the Arab region in achieving dividend yield, in light of the “unprecedented” dividends distributed by ASE-listed public joint-stock companies to shareholders during the year 2023.

The achievement was announced during the ASE participation, represented by CEO Mazen Wathaifi, in activities of the annual conference of the Arab Federation of Capital Markets (AFCM) and meetings of Board of Directors and its General Assembly in its 49th session.

During the conference, the ASE, along with three new stock markets, joined the Net Zero Alliance, which are Bahrain, Muscat and Palestine.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Wathaifi said the Net Zero Emissions is “not just a goal, but a change in thinking, and a mass responsibility to protect the planet for future generations and a journey to realize a future world, where humans and nature coexist in harmony.”

d a more comprehensive financial system in the Middle East and North Africa region, especially for Arab stock markets to be role models for listed companies that adhere to sustainability principles.

DAY 215 OF GENOCIDE: CIVILIANS KILLED IN INTENSE ISRAELI BOMBING OF GAZA


Dozens of Palestinian citizens, the majority of whom were children and women, were killed, and others were injured, in the intense Israeli occupation bombardment on various areas of the Gaza Strip.

Medical sources said that 35 people were killed, and 129 others were injured with various injuries, in the city of Rafah during the past 24 hours.

WAFA correspondent stated that one person was killed and others were injured as a result of the occupation army artillery shelling the last floor of al-Qishta Tower in central Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

A citizen was also killed , and others were injured, as the occupation forces bombed a group of citizens west of the city of Rafah.

The occupation aircraft bombed a house in Al-Geneina neighborhood, east of the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

Two people were injured, according to the Kuwait Specialized Hospital, as a result of the occupation aircraft targeting a group of citizens west of the Rafah crossing.

Two women were killed and a number of others w
ere injured in the Israeli artillery shelling of the town of Khuza’a, east of Khan Yunis.

The occupation artillery and helicopters also targeted the eastern area of Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, and Al-Mughraqa area in the center of the Gaza Strip, amid heavy fire from army vehicles in Netzarim Martyrs Junction axis.
