Egypt’s annual core inflation rate slightly declined to 40.7 percent in July 2023 from 41 percent in June, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

The monthly core Consumer Price Index (CPI) amounted to 1.3 percent in July 2023, from 1.7 percent in June 2023, and from 1.5 percent in the corresponding period of last year.

The annual headline urban consumer inflation rate inched up to 1.9 percent in July 2023, up from 1.3 percent in the corresponding period of last year.

Egypt’s annual headline inflation rate surged to 36.5 percent in July 2023, up from 35.7 percent in June 2023.
