The Commission for the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs warned today of the dangerous escalation in Israeli prisons and detention centers, which threaten the lives of Palestinian detainees.

The Commission said in a statement that ‘the Naqab Prison administration’s decision to cut off water and electricity to all sections of the prison from two o’clock yesterday afternoon until this moment is an alarming act of revenge. It is unimaginable that nearly 1000 detainees would be left without water for all these hours, which is beyond any logic.’

The Commission called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to intervene immediately to stop this crime, to go immediately to the Naqab prison to force the prison administration to restore water and electricity to all sections, and to pledge not to repeat these retaliatory practices that violate all international norms and conventions.
