DUBAI: Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has introduced two new sandboxes as part of its Dubai Sandbox initiative, targeting advancements in the gig economy and PropTech sectors. The move aims to foster innovation and promote regulatory progress in these key areas. According to Emirates News Agency, Sandbox Dubai serves as a centralized platform that facilitates regulatory modernization. It allows companies and innovators to test their offerings under adaptive regulatory conditions. The initiative, recently approved by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which seeks to double the city's economic size in the next decade and establish Dubai as a leader among future economies. The Gig Economy Sandbox is designed to explore flexible working arrangements for Dubai's residents, contributing to the development of regulatory frameworks that ensure industries are prepared for future challenges. Meanwhile, the PropTech Sandbox aims to create a regulatory env ironment conducive to the adoption of new technologies, enhancing the real estate sector's efficiency, sustainability, and accessibility. Khalfan Juma Belhoul, CEO of DFF, emphasized the importance of 'Sandbox Dubai' in uniting public and private sector stakeholders to collaboratively shape regulations. He noted that the initiative encourages the rapid adoption of innovative technologies and business models, thereby enhancing the flexibility of Dubai's economy and labor markets. This effort positions the city as a global leader in adopting forward-thinking practices and technologies.
