Eco-lodge, adventure games projects launched in Ajloun

On the sidelines of His Majesty King Abdullah's visit to Ajloun Governorate, Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi, head of the committee to follow up on implementation of Royal Initiatives, on Tuesday inaugurated the eco-lodge and adventure games project as part of the Royal Initiatives in the Ajloun Forest Reserve.

The two projects are a translation of royal directives to develop tourism and enhance the environment in the tourist attraction.

The eco-lodge and adventure games facilities, which have been fully equipped and staffed aim to develop the ecotourism infrastructure in the Ajloun Forest Reserve and improve services to put the region on the world tourism map.

The initiative also seeks to develop adventure tourism, provide recreational facilities for all age groups, create job opportunities for local people, raise the quality of services to visitors, empower local communities and ensure a sustainable environment and financing of the reserve and its surroundings.

Issawi, in the presence of Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Makram Al-Qaisi and Ajloun Governor Qabalan Al-Sharif, toured the facilities of the eco-lodge, which was established in cooperation with the Royal Scientific Society, and houses 15 new huts, raising the total number of huts in the reserve to 38.

The accommodation facility's capacity has been increased by 150 visitors per night, hosting a larger number of local and international tourism events.

Issawi also toured the adventure games site, which consists of an arena for thrill and challenge games, climbing walls, descent towers, obstacle courses, bicycle tracks and various games for all age groups.

The Adventure Village was established in the stone area located in the Royal Academy for Nature Conservation building to develop adventure tourism through activities that suit all ages.

Issawi said in remarks that His Majesty constantly directs the implementation of model tourism ventures taking into consideration the advantages of each region with the aim of creating job opportunities and supporting and empowering families to start income-generating enterprises.
