Emirates GBR Triumphs Over Australia and New Zealand to Win SailGP 2025 Championship


Abu dhabi: The Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team claimed the 2025 Season Championship title after defeating Australia and New Zealand in the $2 million Grand Final race held in Abu Dhabi.



According to Emirates News Agency, the competition witnessed Emirates GBR overcoming intense rivalry from Australia’s BONDS Flying Roos and New Zealand’s Black Foils. The race was closely contested, with each team taking the lead at various points. Emirates GBR, however, executed a strategic comeback from third place to secure victory on the fourth leg of the final showdown.



The event, organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, featured 12 national teams competing in high-performance F50 foiling catamarans, which are capable of reaching speeds exceeding 100 km/h. The thrilling race attracted significant attention as the teams showcased their skills and strategies in the high-speed competition.



The winners were officially crowned by Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation. Also present were Sheikh Hamdan bin Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Director of International Events at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Assistant General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
