DUBAI: The Emirates Health Services (EHS) today announced a collaboration between Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah and Ibrahim bin Hamad Obaidullah Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah to advance the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

The collaboration will combine laparoscopic robotic fundoplication and laparoscopic gastroplication, two minimally invasive surgical procedures that can help to prevent stomach acid from backing up into the esophagus.

‘This collaboration represents a significant step forward in the treatment of GERD,’ said Dr. Arif Al Nooryani, CEO of Al Qassimi Hospital. ‘By combining the expertise of two leading healthcare institutions, we can offer patients a more effective and long-lasting treatment option.’

Dr Yousef El Tayer, Director of the Ibrahim Bin Hamad Obaidullah Hospital, agreed. ‘This collaboration is in line with the EHS’ commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services to all of our patients,’ he said. ‘We are confident that this new treatment option will improv
e the lives of patients with GERD.’

The collaboration between Al Qassimi Hospital and Ibrahim bin Hamad Obaidullah Hospital is a welcome development for patients with GERD. By combining two effective surgical procedures, the two hospitals can offer patients a more comprehensive and long-lasting treatment option.
