The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said today that Israeli settler terrorism falls within the framework of an Israeli government position aimed at undermining any prospects of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, as well as any efforts to achieve peace through a two-state solution. In a press statement, the Foreign Ministry said settler attacks come in the context of ‘consolidating the logic of brutal force and military solutions to the conflict, in a rolling [Israeli] escalation to distract the world and divert its efforts to stop the escalation in order not to end the occupation of the land of the State of Palestine.’ ‘All of this is taking place in a race against time to complete the crimes of the gradual and non-stop annexation of the West Bank, by intensifying and expanding settlement construction in a crazy manner. This is a frank distribution of roles between the occupation army and the organized and armed settler militias,’ added the Foreign Ministry. The Ministry warned of ‘the consequences of international coexistence with the continuation of the occupation and settlements, with the accompanying suffering, injustice and persecution against the Palestinian people.’
