ABU DHABI: His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, actively participated in an aid collection drive at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) to support Lebanon. The event is part of the larger "UAE stands with Lebanon" campaign. According to Emirates News Agency, the collection drive at the ADNEC Centre, held for the second time in two weeks, succeeded in amassing 150 tonnes of food, medical supplies, and shelter equipment. A diverse group of 2,287 volunteers contributed to the effort. Present at the event were Sheikh Hamdan's children and several dignitaries, including Reem Al Hashimy, Omar Al Olama, and Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, among others. Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the campaign's emphasis on social solidarity and institutional coordination, underscoring the Emirati community's cohesive approach to humanitarian efforts. He described the campaign as a testament to the spirit of br otherhood and humanitarian values, inspired by the foundational principles of the UAE's late founder, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The campaign, initiated on October 8, 2024, under the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has gathered a total of 1,100 tonnes of relief materials. The initiative has also facilitated the dispatch of 13 relief aid planes to Lebanon, delivering 560 tonnes of essential supplies, including provisions for women and children.
