BEIRUT: The diplomatic efforts by U.S. mediator Amos Hochstein to address the escalating conflict between Israel and Lebanon have come under scrutiny as the violence continues to claim more lives. Reports indicate that the proposed framework, based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, is being challenged amidst the ongoing hostilities. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the current situation in the region has intensified, with Israeli military actions resulting in dozens of casualties. This development has put Hochstein's proposed plan, which aims to bring a peaceful resolution to the conflict, under significant pressure. The plan seeks to revitalize Resolution 1701, originally adopted in 2006 to end hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, by introducing a new diplomatic formula. In response to the escalating violence, Washington has reportedly initiated efforts to find a resolution. Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, emphasized that the effectiveness of any diplomat ic initiative would depend heavily on tangible results.
