TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian visited the Hamas office in Tehran to offer condolences for the recent martyrdom of Yahya Sinwar, a leader of the organization. During this visit, President Pezeshkian engaged in discussions with Khaled Qaddoumi, Hamas's representative in Iran, and delivered a critique of Western powers. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Pezeshkian criticized governments that advocate for human rights, democracy, and international law, arguing that these same entities frequently violate these principles. His remarks were particularly directed at the United States and Western countries, which he accused of supporting Israel and supplying it with weapons to commit what he described as "brutal crimes against humanity," especially in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. President Pezeshkian labeled recent global events as indicative of a trend where "forces of arrogance" are pursuing authoritarianism. He emphasized that free individuals will resist suc h impositions and will not succumb to oppression. He framed the ongoing conflict as a broader struggle for justice and the protection of human rights, beyond the martyrdom of individual figures. In response to a potential Israeli attack, President Pezeshkian asserted that Iran would respond decisively and in a manner that is both appropriate and proportionate.
