Dubai: Jai Bhalla claimed his first victory in the Dubai Duty Free monthly junior medal championship at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club this week with a winning score of 28.5 points. Samuel D’Souza finished half a shot behind in the nine-hole strokeplay event on 29 points to win the boys division, while last month’s champion Fardeen Meeran hit 32 points to finish runner-up.
Katherina Nielsen won the girls division in her debut event with a round of 33 and Aryan Chordia took the best gross prize for his solid round of two over par 37. Chordia also picked up a prize for his tee shot on the par-three fifth hole in the nearest-the-pin competition, while Bhalla did the same on the par three eighth.
“Once again a huge thank you to all of the juniors for your participation and, equally, to George Horan and his team at Dubai Duty Free for all of their support,” said Dubai Creek’s golf academy manager Rashid Hamood. “It’s a pleasure to see all of the juniors doing so well and really reveling in the competition and atmosphere that this series has produced.”
