The Lower House Speaker in Jordan, Ahmed Safadi, and Egypt’s Senate President, Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razek, Wednesday held talks in Amman on parliamentary ties. Safadi and Abdel-Razek discussed the “deep-rooted” Jordanian-Egyptian ties and that coordination between His Majesty King Abdullah and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is “at its highest levels.” They agreed that the Hashemite custodianship of Muslim and Christian sanctities in occupied Jerusalem preserved the city’s identity. The meeting discussed economic cooperation and the “need” to establish a tripartite Jordanian-Egyptian-Iraqi economic cooperation framework. Abdel-Razek noted the “close and historical” ties between Jordan and Egypt, adding that the two countries see eye-to-eye on the Palestinian cause and the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian Territories. He praised Jordan’s support for Egypt, especially regarding the Renaissance Dam.
