A Jordanian parliamentary delegation, led by Representative Ahmed Khalayleh, has completed an official visit to Iraq. The visit culminated in a meeting with the former President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Massoud Barzani, on Friday evening. At the meeting, which included the Jordanian Ambassador to Baghdad, Muntasir Uqla, and the Jordanian Consul General in Erbil, Fuad Majali, the delegation expressed its respect for the critical role that the Iraqi Kurdistan Region has played in fostering coexistence and maintaining stability in Iraq and the broader region. The delegation further recognized the region’s efforts in providing refuge to hundreds of thousands of displaced individuals and contributing significantly to the defeat of ISIS terrorists. Barzani referenced the longstanding relations between Iraqi Kurdistan and Jordan, extending his gratitude to His Majesty King Abdullah II for his unwavering support to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq across various phases. Barzani expressed delight at the deepening relations and the strengthening bonds of friendship between the region and the Kingdom across numerous domains, which have seen remarkable progress. During their visit to Iraq, the Jordanian parliamentary delegation engaged in multiple discussions with Iraqi officials, leaders, and representatives of diverse political blocs, currents, and forces in Parliament. The conversations focused primarily on bolstering parliamentary relations between the two nations, coordinating parliamentary efforts and stances, in order to serve the interests of the two fraternal peoples and support Arab and Islamic causes. Khalayleh and his accompanying delegation reiterated Jordan’s supportive stance, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, for all initiatives aimed at augmenting the security and stability of Iraq, considered a crucial pillar of the region’s security and stability. The Iraqi side expressed its appreciation for the positions of His Majesty the King in support of Iraq. The diverse political currents, forces, and parliamentary blocs reiterated their backing for bilateral Jordanian-Iraqi projects.
