Dubai: H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), participated in the Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum at Expo City Dubai. During the event, she toured significant exhibitions and examined the latest global advancements in sustainable urban planning and resilient infrastructure.
According to Emirates News Agency, Her Highness emphasized Dubai’s dedication to developing smart, sustainable, and culturally dynamic cities. She stated that the global cities summit serves not only as an economic dialogue platform but also highlights cities as major incubators of culture and innovation. These urban spaces foster creativity, generate forward-thinking ideas, and facilitate cultural intersections that enrich humanity. Sheikha Latifa noted that urban development achieves its fullest potential when economic progress aligns with cultural and human growth.
On the sidelines of the Summit, Sheikha Latifa met with Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo, Japan, to explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation between Dubai and Tokyo. The discussion focused on partnerships in development, creativity, and knowledge exchange. The meeting was attended by notable figures, including Hessa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai; Hala Badri, Director General of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority; and Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality. The Japanese delegation included Akira Sato, Director General of the Office of the Governor for Policy Planning, and Atsushi Kuwabara, Special Advisor to the Governor on International Affairs.
During the Summit, H.H. Sheikha Latifa also examined several key showcases, such as the Government of Dubai and Digital Dubai stands, which presented the emirate’s latest initiatives for enhancing quality of life and promoting smart transformation. She visited the Young Professionals’ Forum and the Brisbane City stand to learn about international strategies addressing urban challenges.
