BEIRUT: The Lebanese Nurses Syndicate has issued a strong condemnation of ongoing attacks on hospitals, particularly focusing on recent incidents in Beirut and its southern suburbs. The organization is calling for urgent international intervention to prevent further threats and damage to healthcare facilities in the region. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the syndicate's statement highlighted that several hospitals have been rendered non-operational, while others have suffered targeted attacks, which they describe as clear violations of international laws and treaties. The syndicate specifically urged international bodies, including the World Health Organization and the International Council of Nurses, to exert pressure on Israel to halt its targeting of healthcare facilities. The syndicate emphasized the importance of protecting healthcare workers and first responders, noting that their ability to provide life-saving services is being severely compromised. They warned that the sustained attack s on Lebanon's healthcare infrastructure could lead to catastrophic outcomes, likening the situation to a near "genocide" against a nation known for its commitment to life and human rights advocacy.
