A public Security investigation team Tuesday identified and arrested the man who accidentally shot a toddler, who died after being struck by a stray bullet in his home on Thursday, according to the Public Security Directorate’s (PSD) media spokesman.
He said in a statement that the one-year-old child was transferred to a hospital in Madaba, south of Amman, after he was shot in the head, but he later succumbed to his wounds.
Detectives scanned the area around the victim’s house, interrogated a number of people and confiscated several firearms as they gathered evidences leading to the death, he said.
Suspicion fell on the real shooter who confessed to accidentally firing from his gun that was also seized by police, said the spokesman, adding he will be referred to the judicial authorities.
