Mohammed bin Rashid Initiates Region’s Pioneer Endowment District to Elevate Global Philanthropy, Education, and Healthcare


Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has unveiled the Mohammed bin Rashid Endowment District. This landmark urban complex is poised to merge modern housing with commercial, healthcare, and educational amenities, representing a comprehensive vision.



According to Emirates News Agency, the Mohammed bin Rashid Endowment District is the first of its kind in the region, forming part of the strategic investments by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), in collaboration with Azizi Developments. Spanning 2 million square feet, the project involves total investments amounting to AED4.7 billion, including AED330 million from a consortium of investors. The proceeds from its residential, healthcare, and educational facilities will sustain philanthropic endeavors, with allocations directed towards global education and healthcare initiatives.



At the launch ceremony, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on the project’s core elements, plans, and facilities, all of which are designed to adhere to the highest standards of quality of life, efficiency, and sustainability. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the district’s role as a pioneering endowment initiative that integrates healthcare, education, and housing, aspiring to serve as an urban paradigm reflecting the value of endowments as a multiplier of charitable impact.



Sheikh Mohammed also remarked that the endowment project mirrors the UAE’s cultural principles, symbolizing compassion, generosity, and societal solidarity. It stands as a strategic driver of sustainable development and serves as a new benchmark for sustainable philanthropy in the region.



The event witnessed the presence of several esteemed guests, including H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai; H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority; and H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, among others.



The master plan, under the MBRGI, incorporates a 250-bed hospital capable of managing over 90,000 cases annually. It will also offer housing for medical staff, a medical college, and two schools accommodating up to 5,000 students. The district includes 25 endowment buildings with over 2,000 residential units tailored to diverse lifestyles, complemented by service facilities and retail outlets, creating a lively community for more than 12,000 daily residents and visitors.



The project promises high living standards through integrated infrastructure, featuring open green spaces, a boulevard, a mosque, and extensive parking facilities, making it a distinctive destination that embodies comfort, efficiency, and sustainability.



Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Secretary-General of MBRGI, stated that the launch underlines Sheikh Mohammed’s vision to transform charitable work via endowment investments to foster development and empower individuals across life sectors. This initiative aims to ensure ongoing funding to bolster healthcare efforts, enhancing humanitarian efficiency.



Mirwais Azizi, Founder and Chairman of Azizi Developments, expressed pride in participating in this groundbreaking endowment project named after Sheikh Mohammed.
