Al ain: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and Honorary President of the UAE Badminton Federation, inaugurated the first edition of the ‘Al Ain Masters 2025’ badminton championship, marking the commencement of six days of competition at Khalifa bin Zayed Hall at Al Ain Sports and Cultural Club in Al Ain.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event was attended by notable sports figures, including Aref Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, along with a large audience of badminton enthusiasts. The ceremony began with the UAE national anthem performed by the military band, followed by a promotional video outlining the championship’s vision and mission. A special showcase by stars of the UAE national badminton team was also featured, receiving applause from the audience.
During the event, Sheikh Nahyan honored the championship’s strategic partners, acknowledging their contribution to the success of this inaugural edition. Noura Al Jasmi, President of the UAE Badminton Federation, expressed pride and gratitude for the presence of Sheikh Nahyan and Aref Al Awani, highlighting the significance of hosting the inaugural Masters in Al Ain. She emphasized the Federation’s objective to enhance community engagement and attract more international championships to Al Ain, a city well-equipped to host world-class sporting events.
Over the next five days, fans will witness top badminton players from around the world showcasing their skills, with the participation of the UAE national team reflecting the progress of the nation’s sporting ecosystem. The ‘Al Ain Masters 2025’ will run from 30th September to 5th October, featuring around 300 players from 38 countries, promising thrilling matches between top-ranked international players and emerging Emirati talents.
The event not only exemplifies high-level sportsmanship but also reinforces the UAE’s commitment to hosting world-class sports events and inspiring future generations of athletes.
