National Media Authority Launches Media Content Standards Campaign in Abu Dhabi

Abu dhabi: The National Media Authority (NMA) has initiated the 2026 National Campaign to Raise Awareness of Media Content Standards, marking its commencement with a session at Al Mushrif Majlis in Abu Dhabi. This series of sessions aims to foster a responsible media environment that supports creativity and excellence in the UAE.

According to Emirates News Agency, the inaugural session was led by Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Secretary-General of the National Media Authority. It was attended by media professionals, content creators, influencers, and individuals engaged in the UAE media sector. Dr. Al Kaabi emphasized the NMA's efforts to empower creative talent and content creators, reinforcing the UAE's position as a global media hub. He underlined the importance of content quality that reflects national values and adheres to regulatory frameworks.

Dr. Al Kaabi highlighted the role of media professionals and influencers as ambassadors of the UAE's values and identity. He noted the timely introduction of clear standards to regulate the media space, especially with the growth of digital content platforms and generative AI in media production. He stressed the need for unified standards to produce responsible content that respects values, privacy, and regulatory frameworks.

Further, Dr. Al Kaabi praised media professionals in the UAE for their professionalism and creativity. He affirmed the NMA's commitment to promoting Emirati values and societal principles through the UAE Media Content Standards, aiming to strengthen the media sector's competitiveness and support the national economy.

In a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM), Dr. Al Kaabi mentioned the campaign's strategic alignment with the UAE's legislative framework. He highlighted the campaign's objective to engage all societal segments and raise awareness of media legal frameworks, noting the partnership between the Authority and social media users.

The awareness tour will cover all emirates, ensuring the message reaches a broad audience. The campaign aims to promote responsible media practices and clarify legal considerations, reducing the risk of violations due to a lack of awareness. Dr. Al Kaabi emphasized the UAE's distinctive model in media engagement, urging adherence to regulations that enhance content quality.

The Secretary-General concluded with a message to content creators, encouraging them to serve as ambassadors of media standards and leaders of public opinion. He emphasized their role in shaping a responsible media future by aligning with UAE values and laws.
