HEBRON: The Ministry of Health announced last night the death of 28-year-old Salah al-Din Shawamreh, who succumbed to critical injuries sustained from Israeli military gunfire southwest of Hebron.

The incident occurred just hours after his brother, Najmeddine, was killed in the same Israeli attack. A third sibling also sustained minor injuries during the deadly shooting.

The Israeli occupation forces reportedly opened fire on the three brothers near the town of Beit Awwa, instantly killing 25-year-old Najmeddine with a direct shot to the heart.

Salah was critically wounded in the abdomen and chest and was rushed to the hospital. Despite undergoing surgery in a desperate attempt to save his life, he was later pronounced dead. Their brother, Nour al-Din (30), was also shot but sustained only minor injuries.

Local sources pointed out that the shooting took place while the brothers, hailing from the town of Dura south of Hebron, were collecting herbs. After the attack, they were handed over to the Palestinian
Red Crescent at the entrance of Beit Awwa and subsequently transported to Dura Government Hospital.

With the deaths of the Shawamreh brothers, the toll of Palestinians killed in the West Bank since the onset of a all-out Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people on October 7 has risen to 416, according to the Health Ministry.
