Second Sharjah International Conference on Education Commences with Focus on AI and Smart Education


Sharjah: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the University of Sharjah (UOS) and American University of Sharjah (AUS) have launched the Second Sharjah International Conference on Education. The two-day event, themed ‘AI and Beyond: Smart Education Unlocking Potential in the Digital Age’, began on Monday, May 12, at UOS, with H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of UOS, chairing the session. The conference is set to conclude on Tuesday, May 13, at AUS, under the chairmanship of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of AUS.



According to Emirates News Agency, the conference is a significant academic event that gathers thought leaders, researchers, and policymakers worldwide to delve into the latest advancements and transformative practices in education. This event underscores Sharjah’s esteemed position as a global hub for knowledge and learning, echoing the emirate’s visionary leadership and its commitment to fostering a future-ready, smart, and sustainable educational ecosystem.



The conference aims to explore how higher education institutions and research bodies can equip graduates to navigate the swiftly changing technological landscape. Key discussion topics include the integration of artificial intelligence in educational settings, the development of modern pedagogical strategies, curriculum innovation, faculty development, and the cultivation of a research-driven culture in alignment with technological advancements.



The programme boasts a diverse array of parallel sessions, interactive workshops, and field visits, including a tour of the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST). This year’s conference has garnered 92 research papers from scholars across more than 25 countries, involving over 50 academic institutions. UAE universities are prominently engaged in this year’s proceedings.



All accepted papers have been meticulously reviewed by the conference’s scientific committee to ensure adherence to the highest academic standards. Selected papers will be published in a dedicated peer-reviewed journal indexed in the SCOPUS database.
