Sharjah: The 22nd edition of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW) has launched the “Himma Volunteer Award,” specifically intended to recognize volunteers from the People of Determination who achieve the highest number of volunteer hours across various sectors. This new initiative is part of the award’s vision to support and encourage volunteer efforts, acknowledging significant contributions to community service.

According to Emirates News Agency, Fatima Musa Al Baloushi, the Executive Director of the SAVW, emphasized the award’s commitment to empowering People of Determination as integral partners in societal development. Their involvement underscores the important role they play in driving positive change and promoting community growth.

Al Baloushi noted that organizations are increasingly aware of the need to provide volunteer opportunities that match the skills of People of Determination. The available opportunities are designed to fit specific tasks and volunteer environments, offering experiences that enhance skills and support personal goal achievement.

She further explained that the evaluation process for nominations considers several crucial factors, such as the total volunteer hours completed, the quality and impact of contributions, and the creativity shown in volunteer initiatives. Al Baloushi also clarified that the participation criteria and required documents mandate that volunteer activities must be spread throughout the year and finished within the award year. Participants need to complete at least 100 volunteer hours annually to be eligible.

Finally, Al Baloushi urged interested individuals to submit their applications by January 24, 2025.
