Sharjah Ruler Establishes New Institution for Family Development

Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree concerning the establishment and organisation of the Sharjah Family Development.

According to Emirates News Agency, the decree mandates the creation of an institution named 'Sharjah Family Development,' which is granted legal personality and the capacity necessary to fulfil its objectives. This institution will operate under the supervision of the Sharjah Family and Community Council.

The Foundation, headquartered in Sharjah, may establish branches in other cities and regions of the Emirate upon the decision of the Chairperson, H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi. The Chairperson is tasked with appointing suitable individuals to assist in managing the Foundation and its affiliated bodies. The main aim of the Foundation is to enhance social cohesion by strengthening family bonds, elevating the family's role and status, and ensuring its stability. It seeks to empower family members to fulfil their roles effectively, ensuring personal and social security and functionality within the community.

The Foundation will address family-related issues, study challenges faced by family members, and propose solutions to raise the level of community development in the Emirate. It plans to use advanced cultural and media tools to educate families and society and propose legislation supporting the development of policies related to family affairs. Additionally, the Foundation is authorised to prepare policies and strategic plans related to family affairs, raise family awareness, and launch initiatives, programmes, and workshops that empower family members.

The Foundation will also expand community participation, create platforms for collaboration, encourage volunteer work, and consult experts regarding its operations. It is empowered to propose and amend legislation, conduct studies and research, and enter into agreements and partnerships upon approval. The Foundation aims to strengthen cooperation with local, regional, and international bodies concerned with family affairs and participate in relevant conferences to maintain a unified strategic vision.

Financially, the Foundation will be supported by government allocations, self-generated revenues, and other resources approved by the Chairperson.
