Abu dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs and Chairman of Etihad Rail, visited the pavilions at Global Rail 2025, the region’s largest mobility and transport exhibition. The event, hosted by Etihad Rail, is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and runs until 2 October at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Theyab’s tour took place during the second day of the exhibition. He was accompanied by notable figures including Sara Awadh Musallam, Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge; Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development; and Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Rail. The tour involved visits to pavilions of leading global companies such as France’s Alstom, China’s CRRC Corporation Limited, Japan’s Hitachi Rail, the USA’s Progress Rail, Germany’s Siemens, and the Spanish-Egyptian joint venture, Talgo/Hassan Allam.
During the visit, Sheikh Theyab praised the projects on display for their contributions to advancing the global transport sector. He emphasized the importance of partnerships and collaboration in turning innovative ideas into tangible outcomes. Sheikh Theyab also noted that Global Rail reflects the UAE’s emerging role as a hub for global dialogue and collaboration on the future of mobility.
At the event, Etihad Rail signed agreements with key partners including the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Masdar, VIA and United Trans, and Yango to enhance collaboration in the transport sector. Sheikh Theyab also presented awards to partners and sponsors of Global Rail 2025, recognizing their commitment to advancing the transport sector and contributing to the event’s success. Awardees included the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, Abu Dhabi Transport, Alstom, DP World, and Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority, among others.
Global Rail 2025 also features the Global Rail Youth Hackathon, a competition for over 200 students and recent graduates to design innovative rail and infrastructure solutions. The event hosts a Strategic and Technical Conference, with panel discussions and insights on themes such as high-speed rail, intermodal operations, and future city planning.
Under the theme “Driving the Future of Transport and Enhancing Global Connectivity,” Global Rail 2025 positions Abu Dhabi as a leading platform for shaping the future of mobility, highlighting its role in creating sustainable, smart transport solutions.
