Damascus: Syrian aviation authorities have announced the extension of the closure of the country's southern air corridors and the suspension of operations at Damascus International Airport until 11:00 pm local time on Monday. This decision comes as a result of ongoing assessments of regional developments and aviation safety risks.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport stated the decision was made following recommendations from a specialised risk management committee. This committee is tasked with monitoring the security situation and evaluating its impact on air traffic.
The General Authority emphasized that these measures aim to ensure the highest levels of aviation safety and security, adhering to international standards. The extension reflects a cautious approach by Syrian authorities in response to ongoing regional concerns.
