Buggenhout: Four people, including two children, lost their lives when a train collided with a school minibus in northern Belgium, as confirmed by the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to Emirates News Agency, the tragic incident occurred in Buggenhout. Deputy Prime Minister Maxime Prevot announced the unfortunate event on X, stating, “A tragic collision between a train and a school bus took place in Buggenhout this morning. Four people have been killed, including two children.”
The public prosecutor’s office provided additional details during a press conference, revealing that the children who died were aged 15 and 12. The collision also claimed the lives of a 27-year-old teacher and the 49-year-old driver of the bus.
A police spokesperson mentioned that the minibus was carrying seven children, a supervisor, and a driver at the time of the accident. The five other children aboard were critically injured and transported to the hospital. Fortunately, their conditions have stabilized, offering some relief amidst the tragedy.
