Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates has executed an urgent medical evacuation of 57 patients along with their family members from the Gaza Strip. This latest effort brings the total number of individuals evacuated under the Gallant Knight 3 initiative to 2,961 since October 2023. The UAE’s ongoing global humanitarian mission aims to alleviate civilian suffering, facilitate rapid recovery, ensure security and stability, and address the adverse impacts of critical situations.
According to Emirates News Agency, the medical evacuation was facilitated through Ramon Airport in Israel and the Kerem Abu Salem crossing. It marks the 29th batch of emergency evacuation efforts led by the UAE Aid Agency, following directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President. The initiative focuses on treating 1,000 injured Palestinians and 1,000 cancer patients, ensuring they receive essential healthcare in UAE hospitals.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Vice Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, highlighted the UAE’s continued commitment to fostering rapid recovery and reducing the suffering of those impacted by crises and conflicts. He emphasized the UAE’s urgent humanitarian response, which includes a series of medical evacuations for civilian patients and their families from Gaza, executed in collaboration with international organizations.
Furthermore, Al Shamsi noted that the UAE’s relief operations persist through all relevant local entities under the oversight of the UAE Aid Agency. These efforts encompass providing healthcare services, medicines, and medical supplies to patients and the injured aboard the hospital ship stationed off the coast of Al Arish, Egypt. Additionally, the services rendered by the field hospital in southern Gaza aim to ease humanitarian suffering across all societal segments, particularly children, women, and the elderly.
