ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates' economy is projected to experience significant growth, with its real GDP expected to rise from 4 percent in 2024 to 5.1 percent in 2025, as reported by the International Monetary Fund's World Economic Outlook. This projection comes amid the 2024 IMF/World Bank Group Annual Meetings, highlighting a broader economic trend in the Middle East and Central Asia. According to Emirates News Agency, the IMF's World Economic Outlook also forecasts that economies in the Middle East and Central Asia will grow by 2.4 percent in 2024 and 3.9 percent in 2025. Global economic growth is anticipated to remain stable at 3.2 percent for both 2024 and 2025, consistent with previous projections made earlier in July and April of 2024. Advanced economies are expected to see a growth rate of 1.8 percent in 2024 and 2025, a slight increase from 1.7 percent in 2023. In contrast, emerging market and developing economies are projected to grow by 4.2 percent in both years, following a decline from 4 .4 percent in 2023. In terms of inflation, the global headline rate is predicted to decrease from an annual average of 6.7 percent in 2023 to 5.8 percent in 2024 and further to 4.3 percent in 2025, with advanced economies achieving their inflation targets more promptly than emerging markets. The report also provides specific growth forecasts for major economies, noting that the US economy is projected to grow by 2.8 percent in 2024, before slowing to 2.2 percent in 2025. Meanwhile, the Eurozone economy is expected to expand by about 0.8 percent this year and 1.2 percent the following year.
