BEIRUT: In a bid to counter Israeli military claims of concealed military infrastructure, Sahel Hospital organized a press tour on Tuesday for journalists from local, Arab, and international media outlets. The hospital, located on the airport road, has been accused by Israel of having tunnels and bunkers beneath its premises that allegedly hold millions of dollars in cash and gold. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the hospital's director, Mazen Alameh, led reporters through different sections of the facility to demonstrate the absence of any military installations. Alameh expressed his concern over the dire consequences for public health if the hospital were to close amid these allegations, highlighting that hospitals across Lebanon are already operating at full capacity. Alameh called on the public to visit Sahel Hospital to inspect its departments and storage areas, aiming to dispel the notion of any military affiliation or infrastructure. He described the Israeli allegations as both "shocking and alarming," stressing the hospital's status as a private, non-partisan institution established 42 years ago by Dr. Fakhri Alameh. Emphasizing the hospital's commitment to transparency, Alameh reiterated that the institution remains open to scrutiny. He stated that operations would resume once the Lebanese Army provides security assurances, underscoring the hospital's dedication to serving the community and its humanitarian mission.
