DAMASCUS, Rebels and their families on Monday evacuated an area in central Syria as part of a Russian brokered deal, Xinhua news agency reported, citing the state news agency SANA.
A total of 62 buses ferried hundreds of rebels and their families from rebel held areas in the northern countryside of Homs and the southern countryside of Hama.
This is the first batch to leave those areas for rebel held Jarablus in northern Syria, said SANA, adding that more evacuation of rebels are expected to follow.
The evacuation deal reached between the rebels and the government on May 1 is identical to others reached in the capital Damascus which saw the evacuation of rebels from eastern Ghouta and eastern Qalamoun regions to Idlib and Jarablus last month.
The Russian brokered evacuation deals are aimed at curbing battles.
The rebels are leaving for strongholds in northern Syria in order to secure more areas in central and southern Syria.
