Year of Sustainability Invites UAE Entities to Showcase Eco-Friendly Achievements

ABU DHABI: The UAE Year of Sustainability has announced an open call for entities across the nation to submit entries showcasing their successful and impactful sustainability efforts. This initiative aims to recognize and promote notable contributions towards sustainable practices by various organizations throughout the country. According to Emirates News Agency, the entries must be submitted by November 8 through the official UAE Year of Sustainability website. These submissions will be evaluated by a panel of experts from the Year of Sustainability's Experts' Network, which includes Abdullah Alremethi, Ali Al Shimmari, Habiba Al Marashi, Maitha Al Hameli, and Mariam Al Qubaisi. The evaluation criteria focus on the authentic demonstration and measurable impact of sustainability initiatives, innovative solutions, community engagement, alignment with the Year of Sustainability 2024's focus areas, and the continuity of implemented practices. Entities participating will receive the "Plan to Action: Year of Sus tainability's Seal," acknowledging their sustainability efforts. This seal can be displayed digitally and physically, serving as a symbol of their commitment to sustainability. Additionally, selected entities will be featured on the Year of Sustainability's website and social media platforms to inspire collective sustainable actions across the UAE. Those earning the Seal will also be included on the interactive Plan to Action Map, which highlights environmentally responsible businesses and their green initiatives. Deputy Project Lead Rauda Al Falasi emphasized the initiative's goal to mobilize individuals and entities towards sustainable action, highlighting changemakers and leaders setting sustainability standards in their industries. Ali Al Shimmari, a member of the Experts' Network, stressed the importance of industry leaders adopting eco-friendly practices, which can drive significant environmental progress. The open call is open to all entities across government, private, and non-profit sectors, includ ing restaurants, NGOs, and educational institutions. It aims to foster a nationwide commitment to sustainable practices across various fields. Interested entities are encouraged to apply by filling out the application form available on the official UAE Year of Sustainability website before the November 8 deadline.
