At least three people were injured by an explosion in the city of Kireyevsk in Tula, western Russia region on Sunday, according to the country’s state news agency, quoting regional dispatch services.

“An explosion occurred at 3:19 p.m. (1219GMT). Two people – born in 2002 and 2006 – were hurt. They received fragmentation wounds. The explosion left a crater. The explosion occurred within the city limits,” a spokeswoman for the local emergencies call center told TASS.

Three multi-apartment houses were damaged by the blast, while four household structures were also damaged, she added.

A later update by local emergency representatives said a third person was reportedly injured, but that the severity of the wounds was unknown.

Law enforcement agencies later told TASS that the blast was caused by an unmanned aerial vehicle.
