DUBAI: The 33rd Arab Scout Camp, hosted by the UAE for the first time under the theme “Scouting: A Sustainable Approach”, concluded on a high note with the participation of more than 1,500 scouts representing 19 Arab countries.

The event was held under the patronage of the H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, in the Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve from 15th to 25th December.

Participants in the camp learned about different cultures and exchanged experiences and knowledge. The sessions offered participants opportunities to develop their personal and leadership skills. Field trips to local tourist attractions were also organised to discover the cultural and natural heritage of the region.

Dr. Salem Abdulrahman Al Darmaki, Board Chairman of the Emirates Scout Association (ESA) and Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee of the Camp, confirmed that the closing day of the camp embodied its great success.

In statements to the
Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al Darmaki said that the gathering of about 1,500 Arab Scouts, divided into 1,200 scouts and 300 guides, in the 33rd Arab Scout Camp reflected the interest of the UAE’s wise leadership and its directives to promote cooperation and cultural understanding between Arab youth.

He added, ‘Participants in the camp had the opportunity to take part in a variety of events, including scout competitions, workshops, cultural and artistic activities that reflect the diversity and richness of Arab heritage, alongside sports events and entertainment competitions to promote sportsmanship and social cohesion among participants.’

The Arab Scout Camp is an annual event of great importance in strengthening the cultural and social ties between Arab youth, as knowledge, common heritage and experiences are exchanged among participants.
