40 underprivileged families benefit from food security project

Activities of Women’s Empowerment for Food Security Project on Tuesday kicked off activities, which benefit 40 vulnerable households in Jordan’s rural areas, as well as families eligible to benefit from National Aid Fund (NAF).

The project comes within the framework of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan, comprehensive development vision of Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) , Center for Arab Women Training and Research (CAWTAR) and efforts to recover from repercussions of Covid 19 pandemic.

Its axes also serve Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision (EMV) and National Food Security Strategy , aimed to empowering Jordanian women economically and socially and supporting their financial independence.

Moreover, the project seeks to reach 100 direct beneficiaries and 400 indirect families, by carrying out activities in three countries, Tunisia, Jordan and Senegal, during 2022-2023.

As for its activities, the project primarily focuses on production operations for agricultural products, and food processing processes. Capabilities of the beneficiary women in production and transformation are built by benefiting from technical field training and coaching on a set of basic skills necessary for agricultural entrepreneurship, mainly financial literacy, feasibility study, business plans, and packaging.
