4th General Conference of Arab Union for Municipal and Tourism Workers kicks off, Syria elected the Union’s Secretary-General

Damascus, SANA- The 4th General Conference of the Arab Union for Municipal and Tourism Workers kicked off on Monday under the slogan “Hand in Hand for a Better Future for Arab Workers” in the Sahara Tourist Complex in Damascus countryside.

In addition to Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, Palestine and Bahrain will participate in the conference.

The agenda of the conference includes discussing a presentation on the activity report of the General Secretariat for the period between the two conferences, in addition to discussing and approving the financial report of the Union and reviewing the reality of the regional organizations affiliated with the Union.

During the conference, Syria was elected Secretary-General of the Arab Union of Municipal Workers and Tourism, Egypt was elected to the Executive Council of the Union, Iraq was elected to the Youth Committee, and Bahrain to the Women’s Committee.

In a speech at the beginning of the conference, the President of the General Federation of Trade Unions and the Secretary-General of the International Federation of Arab Workers, Jamal al-Qadri, affirmed that convening of the conference carries two messages, the first that Syria’s leadership, army and people have been able to defeat terrorism and its repercussions despite the manifestations of the economic, development and service blockade, and the second is that Syria today, returned the warmth to the Arab Nation.
