Lavrentiev, improving humanitarian situation in Syria should be priority of International community

Nur-Sultan, SANA- Russian President’s Special Envoy for Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, has underlined the necessity of that improving the humanitarian situation in Syria should be  one of the international Community’s priorities and that the humanitarian assistance should be comprehensive and not limited to food only.

In a statement to the journalists on Thursday on the sidelines of the sixteenth meeting of Astana Format on Syria in the Kazakh Capital Nur Sultan, Lavrentiev said that most of this aid should be directed towards implementation of various projects of vital importance, such building schools, hospitals and other projects.

On Wednesday, the works of the sixteenth International meeting of Astana Format started.

Lavrentiev noted that the special envoy of UN Security Council to Syria, Geir Pederson, has promised to work on setting possible date for the meeting of Constitutional Discussion Committee.

While Lavrentiev declared, on Wednesday that the next meeting of the Constitutional Discussion Committee might be held this summer.
