The Iraqi Customs Authority announced a ban on alcohol imports, based on the the Municipal Imports Law that has recently entered into force.
The law stipulates “a ban on the import, manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages of all kinds.”
The authority informed all customs regions and centers to prohibit the entry of alcoholic beverages.
The law imposes a fine ranging between USD 7,000 and USD 19,000.
Notably, the law was voted on back in 2016, but it was not officially announced in the media and therefore did not enter into force in the country
